Joining up the blocks!

I finished the middle piece in my quilt today and trimmed the blocks and joined them together. This is a view of the two blocks sewn together from the back. 

I have used QAYG again for the blocks and middle piece. This is a view from the front once all the blocks are assembled. It has 4 Log Cabins, well that's what I was aiming for! And they weren't quite big enough so I created a strip of simple strips of the same fabric collections and added this to the middle. I did plan to have 6 of the log cabins which I did finish but when I tried quilting the final 2 it kinda went to pot so I decided to go with the center piece instead. I think it works and is nice and bright for summer. 

This is a photo of the quilt top with the backing I've picked. The colour really goes with the top and I love dots!

I love this colour green and it goes with a lot of the fabrics I have so I will definitely be getting more. Now I just need to decide if I use the back to bind to the front of the quilt seen a great tutorial on Cluck Cluck Sew not done this before as I've only just started quilting but like trying something new. What would you do?

First Baby Quilt!

Well I did it! 

I made my first "Quilt As You Go!" baby quilt. I've used Riley Blake fabric which is a fabric obsession. I love the quality and wide variety of gorgeous prints. There is something for everyone. I've used a 50% cotton and 50% bamboo blend for the wadding and it has a lovely feel to it. It's modern straight line quilting, well that's all I can do! I think they are spaced about 1 inch apart. 

I constructed this by starting with the centre piece and worked out wards and then up and down. The binding is pieces of the scraps that were left which I love and this was suggested by mum. The back is a lovely bright turquoise. 

The quilt measure about 26 inches by 28 inches and is aimed at use in the car or a Moses basket.

There's tons of help and information out there on the web but the most helpful websites I've found for quilt as you go projects are Stitched In Colour  and Flutterkat and Maureen Cracknell . These ladies are so inspirational with a great way of explaining what to do and how to get going. I'd never quilted before but was able to create this all from their fantastic tutorials and I now follow them on Bloglovin. Please check them out they are amazing.

The fabulous Love Patchwork & Quilting Magazine arrived today! I love this magazine it's so full of fresh modern ideas and gorgeous fabric and quilts, cushions. I really enjoy reading it and hope to one day try some of the items out and write about them on here. So here's a photo of the cover for now...

Hello!

Welcome to my blog and hello!!

This blog will be about my journey and adventures into the world of sewing, needle felting, knitting and anything else I try along the way.

I always loved art and textiles when I was at school, which I really don't want to think how long ago that was! And I really wish now I hadn't abandoned it for sooo many years. A few years ago I started knitting again and made a number of baby blankets and clothes and started creating Pepper Paw pet blankets for our Siberian kittens. I then started to have health issues and I couldn't knit as much so I tried some sewing and then at the end of last year I fell in love with needle felting. So now when I can and to use as distraction from a constant pain condition I have, I needle felt or sew or knit!

But where did my blog name come from?

It's named after two of my furry family, who are two American Curls called Nog and Pepper. They both fill my heart with love and joy. So it just had to be called Nog, Pepper & Me!

So this blog will be my record of all my challenges, hopefully not too many defeats and lots of successes!
